First dates are important because they give the two of you a chance to learn more about each other. Don’t set a date for some distracting event like bowling or a play. This won’t give you the chance to chat with the woman at all. Intead try boring dates. I like coffee dates because they aren’t as nerve wracking as a traditional dinner date. If you take her out for coffee and the woman just acts incredibly rudely or whatever, it is not a big deal to just get up and leave.
Your goal for the first date is just to get to know her. This is probably the most important thing I can tell you about first dates. I know you like her, but you really don’t know too much about her yet. Just have a good time and learn who she is for now. Find out if you can actually tolerate her company. Don’t try to memorize a bunch of stupid questions to ask her. They will seem canned and only make you look pathetic. Just talk to her about herself and get to know who she is. The most important point is to only ask her questions if you authentically care about what her response is. You are on the date to get to know her, not entertain her or kill time.
Personally I still feel pretty nervous and excited before a first date. Getting to know a new girl and understanding her point of view can be as exciting as opening a gift. First dates are usually pretty easy, so don’t sweat this too much.
Here is another good tip for first dates. Don’t get your hopes up too high. You should just be trying to find out if this is the sort of woman you want to see more seriously. Keep your expectations down to earth. She is likely not going to go home with you that night. It is pretty typical for girls make random rules ahead of time about what they will and will not do on a first date. So just go in with the goal of learning more about her.
When you part ways at the end of the date, hug her and give her a peck on her cheek. This is an excellent way to end a date. This will make you look pretty smooth and charming. This lets her know that you are a good catch. An honest man that is not just trying to score.
Above all else though, remember to have a good time. Make the girl laugh. She is probably a bit anxious about the date too. A good laugh will put both of you at ease. Don’t be afraid to laugh at yourself. This will show her that you are both confident and that you don’t take life too seriously at the same time. Just tell the woman something so stupid that she knows you’re just joking like “My mom drove me here. She driving around the block waiting to pick me up when we finish up here. I can’t leave her waiting all day, so I have to keep this quick.”
